The report of a meeting about Adhan (prayer call) by a delegation consisting of six with the council of Botkyrka Kommun

Karim Shamohammadi

14 November 2012

Tuesday, November thirteenth a delegation consisting of six; Mahin Alipour, Rebecca Hybbinette, Rahim Yazdanparast, Saman pirasteh, Rezgar Mahmoudi and karim Shamohammadi met the two members of Botkyrka kommun who are social democrat called Jens Sjöström that is chef assistant and Emanuel Ksiazkiewicz that is clerk of him.

As we informed in the last letter, previously Ismail Okur, the responsible of one of “Islamic associations” applied for Adhan (prayer call) through minaret in Fittja mosque in Botkyrka Kommun and demanded that halal slaughter and the introduction of leave from work during Islamic holidays should be allowed. But it was prevented by secular people and the protest of many people. At the end of September it was seen in local press that Botkyrka Kommun has been convinced to Adhan through minaret. We protested by calling to Botkyrka Kommun, writing essays and discussion on radios. We said to representatives of the kommun that we would have demonstration on 25 October, the day of the kommun delegation meeting. We asked for attending one of our representatives to make a speech there. Tova Lund one of the kommun social democrat representatives called me two days before the kommun delegation meeting and said that they won’t decide that Thursday about Adhan and would be delayed two months. But we were not satisfied. So we requested a meeting for our delegation that live in Botkyrka to meet the representatives of the kommun. They agreed and finally our delegation consisting of six met in two hours the two social democrat members of Botkyrka kommun. During the meeting we protest to Adhan through minaret in different points of view. We said to them that we live here and we don´t like to hear Adhan. Adhan annoys us and harasses who does not pray and who doesn’t believe in.

The Adhan by minaret means the imposition of religion by force to people´s life. Actually Adhan by minaret is an apparel assault to individual privacy. In addition the Republic Islamic of Iran everyday executes and stones by saying “Allah Akbar” (the Islamic phrase means God is grander than can be explained). Science is completed and people who need to go to mosque can get notification by mobile and internet. It is heard about freedom of religion, but it seems it is forgotten our freedom of no religious. Everyone is free to pray in mosque or at home but no one can harass others. Freedom of religion doesn´t means that all religious rules need to be performed. Performing of religious rules is prevented by secular and modern community. As in Sweden; halal slaughter, polygamy, marriage of adult with underage, execution, stoning, and torture and etc are forbidden. So Adhan (prayer call) through minaret should be banned. In addition behind the aforementioned application and mosque are the clear and hidden relations with Saudi Arabistan, with the Islamic Republic of Iran and with terrorism that wants to spread Sharia law in community so leads to destroy women and girls lives.

After the discussion we asked what would be their decision. The representative of Botkyrka Kommun said that they cannot afford to answer this question and they would transfer it to Swedish parliament and would get the police idea that Adhan annoys people or not. They determined that at the end of December Swedish parliament will decide to confirm Adhan through minaret or not.
