Behnam Ebrahimzadeh and his Family Need Worldwide Support

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh is a well-known Iranian worker activist and leader. He has been under intense torture and subject to mental and bodily harassment in the past few month. The reason is that he has not stayed quiet in prison and kept on passionately defending the humanity and fighting discrimination and inequality through his communiques. According to the news, there has been a new charge against Behnam for “causing unrest” in prison.

In relation to Behnam’s situation his wife Ms. Zubeydah Hadjizadeh and his 15-year old son Nima, who suffers from cancer, have published an open letter titled “Be the Voice of our Silence!”

Let us respond to this letter and be their voice all over the world. Ms. Zubeydah Hadjizadeh and Nima Ebrahimzadeh’s letter is attached.

According to the latest news mentioned in this letter, Behnam is being kept in the Ward 1 of House 2 of the Rejai-shahr Prison; he has been on hunger strike since August 9 tin order o protest the pressures against him and the indifference of the prison authorities toward his health problems and bodily conditions. Behnam’s situation is worrisome. Behnam demands his immediate return to the Ward 350 of Evin Prison and receiving treatment for the sicknesses he has been suffering due to atrocious tortures of the Islamic regime he has been subject to.

Let us support Behnam Ebrahimzadeh and his family; we can lift the pressure over Behnam by providing worldwide support for him. This way we can prevent him from deteriorating his already bad health conditions and ask him to end his hunger strike and not to endanger his own life.

Attachment: Ms. Zubeydah HAdjizadeh and Mr. Nima Ebrahimzadeh’s open letter

Be the voice of our silence!

To worker unions, humanitarian organizations, human rights organizations, Amnesty International, children rights and women rights organizations!

The life of my child’s father, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, is in danger!

This letter is written by me and my son, Nima, who suffers leukemia, to all you who are the voice of conscience.

    Dear Friends!

Today we were informed via phone about Behnam’s warning situation. We are extremely worried; we do not know what to do.

They told us that today Behnam was moved to Rejai-shahr Prison, Ward 1, House 2. Behnam has been on hunger strike since August 9 in order to protest the pressures against him and the indifference of the prison authorities toward his health problems and bodily conditions

Today we received another bad news that the guards have attacked the wards and beaten the inmates. Behnam had not been able to even stand on his feet due to his health conditions and his hunger strike. We receive sad news about Behnam’s situation one after another. Behnam has been punished and has been sent to the “criminal ward”. This ward is full of drugs and no one is safe there since some of the inmates carry knives and arms.

Dear friends! We receive such news continuously; our heart is broken constantly; we ask ourselves what is to be done? I and my ill son have been experiencing difficult and frustrating situations for several years. Your support and love have warmed our hearts and made us standing this inhumane situation with more strength. However, I witness my son Nima is fading away before my eyes little by little and there is nothing I can do. Many nights I have been woken up by Nima’s cries; I caressed him, calmed him down promising that the difficult times would be over. But it seems that these dark days of ours will continue indefinitely.

We are truly worried about Behnam’s situation. We ask your help. We demand you to do whatever you can in whatever way possible in order to form a worldwide support for Behnam’s release. We have been truly fed up with this situation.

Behnam has neither killed somebody, nor has rubbed someone, nor has he bagged the nation’s money. Behnam has only defended the rights of those, who like himself, are subject to injustice constantly. Behnam has defended the children who spends their days and nights on the streets. Why should those who defend humanity and own a conscience be imprisoned?

We have written numerous letters to the authorities without receiving any response; we are frustrated and fed up. We ask you women and men, you humanitarian people who owns conscience to be on our side as before. We ask you to pressure the judiciary authorities in Iran via your worldwide campaigns for the release of Behnam, my spouse and the father of my child. We thank you for any kind of your support in advance.

With regards and the hope for Behnam’s release,

    Zubeydah Hadjizadeh and Nima Ebrahimzadeh
